Sanitizers

Since we face the outbreak of Covid19, a disease caused by a novel virus called "Coronavirus," I will share with you some insights that "may" prove valuable during our war with this wicked disease.

 

First, regarding the sanitizers, many black markets have emerged in several countries all over the world manufacturing and promoting the sale of 70% alcohol gels claiming the same will protect you and your beloved ones from this virus.

The truth is that protecting yourself and your beloved ones is a habit of awareness of basic hygiene rather than flooding your skin with sanitizers. As we all know, this virus spread through droplets (the micronized drops resulting from coughing and sneezing). The chance to breathe or contact your eyes by such flying droplets coming fresh from the patient is far more probable than any other scenario. Hence, all governments and medical health providers are screaming for exercising "Social Distancing" as much as possible. Minimizing contact with people, in general, is your first line of defense.

 

Second, much misleading information has been spreading through social media regarding the inefficacy of reputable detergents like Dettol (Chloro Xylenol derivatives) against the virus, and that alcohol is far more effective than the former. The truth is that Dettol and the like are destroying both bacteria and viruses far more efficiently than any other product. The mechanism of such chemicals is to denature the protein content of the germs, which inhibit its infective properties altogether.

 

Bleach (Clorox and the like) is also quite useful, and it resembles the detergents mentioned above in their mechanism.

What I am about to share is also quite useful, but it is almost forgotten. Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) is a powerful antiseptic and detergent that destroys cell membranes, proteins, and nucleic acids through its powerful oxidizing properties. You will find it is all pharmacies with different concentrations ranging from 3% up to 30%. The higher concentration (30%) is quite powerful and corrosive, so it is recommended to dilute it at least 10% to use it as a power antiseptic.

 

Additionally, Hydrogen Peroxide disintegrates (break up) into water and Oxygen. This could be a means to increase the Oxygen intact of patience suffering from pneumonia. I have watched several videos on YouTube recommending the usage of 3% hydrogen peroxide solution in a Nebulizer to cure bronchial asthma and bronchitis. If you don't have a Nebulizer, you can easily do the same setup by boiling a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide in a small ban and breathe the coming vapors.  This has to be investigated further to prove the efficacy of such a recipe to improve Oxygen levels in the blood but the problem now is that we don't have the luxury of time to experiment.

Note: to liberate the full Oxygen content of Hydrogen Peroxide; you can put Manganese Dioxide to the same, which works as a catalyst for the spontaneous disintegration of it.

 

2H2O2 --> 2H2O + O2 (MnO2 catalyst).

 

Where can I find MnO2? It is in any AA battery (Dry Batteries) around you. Just puncture a hole in the battery (carefully) with a nail and a hammer and drop the whole punctured battery in Hydrogen peroxide solution, and pure Oxygen will liberate vigorously.

 

Who knows? Maybe the above mentioned could spare the life of someone.
